The Version Interview: The Janoskians on their brand new movie.
The Janoskians have announced the release of Janoskians: Untold and Untrue, a concert special set around the group’s sold out performance at Wembley arena. This semi-true story about the origins of the hugely successful Australian pranksters follows the Janoskians’ journey towards their ultimate goal of performing at Wembley Arena. The un-rated mockumentary takes fans behind-the-scenes to follow Beau, Luke, Jai, James and Daniel, as they come together, fight, makeup and perform their biggest hits.
The Version's James Edgington caught up with them for our latest exclusive interview.
How did it start with you making youtube videos?
It was just me (Luke), my brother and James got together at the weekends and came up with this crazy idea for a youtube channel. We didn’t know how serious it was going to be, we just wanted to have fun with it and do random videos.
Did you take inspiration from anywhere else for the videos?
We didn’t really know what we were doing. Humiliating ourselves with pranks was something we hadn’t seen much of on youtube and then it just took off.
How does it feel to have such a massive following on youtube and twitter?
It’s an unbelievable feeling really because so many people are following and pushing the followers on social media, it’s just really cool. It’s crazy to think that you have so many people that know about especially coming out of school, to just know that there are so many people out there watching you.
You have completed 2 world tours including a sold out show at Wembley Arena… How did it feel to do these gigs?
Just unbelievable really. We are really just normal guys out of school and this has just exploded. Wembley was just incredible. Nothing compares to it because of the history and we love performing in the UK. We really saw how much love the fans had.
You must pick up some pretty crazy fans? Where would you say are the craziest fans?
The craziest fan situation happened in the UK. We had come off stage and were heading to our bus and we all go on, but fans were surging the bus. We were all fine and heard a noise in the back of the bus and turns out a girl had got herself onto the bus, it was kind of scary, crazy and amazing at the same time.
Is there anything you guys wouldn’t attempt?
I honestly don’t think there would be anything. We like to test ourselves and push our limits. The ideas from other challenges on youtube that we might have seen or we’ll have a couple of ideas and put them together so I don’t think there is something we wouldn’t attempt.
How excited are you for the movie?
Yes and it’s pretty exciting. It’s lots of fun and I don’t want to give too much away but it follows us leading up to the Wembley gig with loads of funny stuff in there and yeah I don’t want to give too much away.
So you are promoting a new tour? Where are you heading with this one?
We are hitting Ireland at the end of the month and then into Uk in September. It will be a real buzz for us as we’ll be promoting the movie too.
