Amazon's LoveFilm is closing for good :(
Amazon is closing down its DVD rental service LoveFilm.
The postal service was founded in 2002 and was later acquired by Amazon in 2011. The retailer claims“decreasing demand for Blu-ray and DVD rental as customers increasingly move to streaming” with services such as Amazon's own Prime Video service being one of the more desirable choices on offer, alongside Netflix and NOW TV.
The service will close for good at the end of October however customers will not be billed after 30th September, meaning they can enjoy a month’s worth of free rentals.
LoveFilm previously ran white label rental services for the Easy company and Tesco but both of these services closed following a decline in customers..
