Bond theme documentary to air on BBC Radio 1.
Radio 1 are to broadcast a new documentary exploring iconic James Bond themes.
BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw looks at the unique intersection between the worlds of music and film - in particular, how the Bond song has become as iconic as the film itself.
Every time a new 007 film is announced, speculation to which artist will be chosen to record the Bond song begins and how it will compare to the classic Bond themes from across the decades.
Featuring exclusive interviews with Sam Smith, his co-writer Jimmy Napes and prolific Bond music producer David Arnold, Nick Grimshaw explores the story of the Bond song. Celebrating the musical heritage of James Bond, from the iconic original Monty Norman instrumental theme, through classic tracks like Live And Let Die, Goldfinger, A View To A Kill and Skyfall - all the way to the newest Bond song Writing’s On The Wall by Sam Smith.
There are also contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, 007 Producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and Radio 1 film critic Rhianna Dhillon.
The documentary airs at 9pm on Monday 20th October.
