The Version Interview... Sigma!

With Sigma’s fourth hit record and third iTunes No.1 single‘Glitterball’ (feat. Ella Henderson), still in the Official Chart Company and iTunes Top 10 singles charts, Cam and Joe have announced details of their new single, ‘Redemption’, a collaboration with Diztortion that features UK star, Jacob Banks. They've also announced a UK headline tour.

We recently caught up with Cam...

So Cam, how did Sigma come about? What’s the story?

Well I met Joe at Leeds University on some drum and bass nights. I was working for a small record store and I guess we were into different styles really. I was running a drum and bass night and ended up asking Joe to play at the nights. It was pretty good to start working with someone like minded.

You’ve collaborated with a number of major artistes really putting you on the map. One track you did featuring Paloma Faith was a huge hit and not who’d you’d expect on a drum and bass track, how did that come about?

Well it’s a strange one because you meet different artistes at events and play similar gigs and really Paloma had heard some of our material. We actually pitched something to her because we wanted to collaborate and heard she was pretty experimental and creative. Paloma actually said yes and it was just a brilliant idea to fuse the styles together.

You’ve remixed for tracks with Ellie Goulding, Eric Prydz, Groove Armada, Skepta and Sway, you working your way up the charts in a huge way is there a hit list of people you want to work with?

I wouldn’t say there is a hit list as such. We’ve been really lucky with the types of people who have contacted us, artistes who have featured on our tracks. I suppose the ultimate would be getting stuck into the American scene and changing things up over with artistes like Kanye West.

You’ve just had the success of your 3rd itunes number 1 with Glitterball featuring Ella Henderson and now you've announced your 4th single. Tell us more about the album?

Yeah Glitterball was great to release and the album is called Life. It is put together through different stages and is a growth. Like Life. We’re really proud of it and we hope that fans and artiste alike are

So you’ve got a number of live dates coming up promoting Life, what is a Sigma live show like?

Well Joe and myself are on stage and we have 3 great vocalists that we work with who nail the vocals on the tracks we’ve remixed or featured artistes on. It’s a big party I suppose and it’s great to tour around and see all those people and of course play for the fans of drum and bass music.
