1) Chernobyl, Sky Atlantic

Chernobyl, based on powerful real-life events, is to be the first commission from Sky and HBO’s high-end drama partnership announced earlier this year. It will dramatise the true story of one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history, and the brave men and women who made incredible sacrifices to save Europe from unimaginable disaster.

The five-part mini-series, starring Jared Harris (The Crown, Mad Men) and produced by Sister Pictures and The Mighty Mint, will be shown on Sky Atlantic in the UK and Ireland. It is the first Sky/HBO project to be greenlit through an international partnership to develop big-scale drama, under a $250m multi-year co-production investment deal.

Chernobyl is a tale of lies and cowardice, of courage and conviction, of human failure and human nobility. The mini-series focuses on the heart-breaking scale of the nuclear plant disaster that occurred in Ukraine in April 1986, revealing how and why it happened, and telling the shocking, remarkable stories of the heroes who risked their lives to save others.

2) This Time With Alan Partridge, BBC One

The show will see Alan (Steve Coogan) handed a career lifeline - the chance to stand in (temporarily) as co-host on This Time, an evening weekday magazine show.

The show itself is a heady mix of consumer affairs, current affairs, viewer interaction, highbrow interview and lightweight froth; very much the sweet spots for a man whose CV boasts over two decades of weekday local radio. And with an array of diverse subjects on the agenda, it promises the perfect fit for a man whose broadcasting style has been described as ‘equidistant between chitchat and analysis.’

Joining Steve Coogan on the sofa will be Susannah Fielding as his female co-presenter Jennie Gresham, and Tim Key as Simon ‘formerly Sidekick Simon’ Denton.

3) Riviera 2, Sky Atlantic

Helped by Constantine’s first wife, Georgina will undergo an education in lying, double-dealing, outright theft and shocking criminality. She has to learn fast to maintain the Clios mansion and save the family from its enemies and from itself. The drama series is produced by Archery Pictures and Primo Productions and stars Julia Stiles, Lena Olin, Roxane Duran and Dimitri Leonidas, Will Arnett, Juliet Stevenson, Poppy Delevingne, Jack Fox and Grégory Fitoussi.
