Radio: Audience figures show Mayo and Whiley left Radio 2 drivetime on high.
Simon Mayo and Jo Whiley left their BBC Radio 2 drivetime show on a high, according to the latest official audience figures compiled by RAJAR.
In results published this week, the duo were joined by another 280,000 people in the last quarter, meaning a massive 6.2 million were turning in each week. It’s a huge boost for Jo Whiley who has spoken publically about the effect of online trolling she received as a result of joining Simon as his co-host.
Simon Mayo left the station at the end of last year and will begin a new morning show on Scala next month. Scala Radio is from the company behind Magic FM and Absolute and aims to establish itself as a contemporary classic station. He still presents a Friday afternoon film show on BBC Radio 5 Live.
Jo Whiley is back on Radio 2 evenings, with a show broadcast Mondays to Thursdays, 7 - 9pm. She will soon cover for Ken Bruce in the morning slot whilst he takes a holiday.
