Remi Malek and Fleabag star confirmed for 25th Bond film.
Rami Malek is to play the villain in the 25th James Bond film, it was confirmed today.
Details of the new movie were revealed today, however the title remains under wraps.
Other new details include confirmation that Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge is among the new film's writers, the story is located in Jamaica and it is definitely Daniel Craig’s final outing as 007.
Speaking via video link at the launch, Malek said "I'm stuck here in New York in production but I'm very much looking forward to joining the whole cast and crew. I will be making sure Mr Bond does not have an easy ride in this, his 25th outing. See you all soon."
The official plot summary reads: "Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help.
"The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology."
Asked what she could reveal during the launch, producer Barbara Broccoli said: "Bond is not on active service when we start the film. He is actually enjoying himself in Jamaica. He starts his journey here. We've built an extraordinary house for him... We've got quite a ride in store for Mr Bond."
It was also confirmed that Ralph Fiennes and Ben Whishaw will return as M and Q respectively, with Naomie Harris coming back as Moneypenny and Rory Kinnear again playing MI6 chief of staff Bill Tanner.
Lea Seydoux is reprising her Madeleine Swann character from 2015's Spectre, while Jeffrey Wright is returning as ex-CIA agent Felix Leiter.
As well as Malek, new cast members will include Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch and Game Night actor Billy Magnussen.
They will be joined by fellow Bond newcomers Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah and David Dencik.
The film is set for release on 25 April, 2020.
