Celebrity Big brother launched with a peak of 2.4millon viewers – 200,000 more than the number that tuned in for last Summer’s series.
In comparison, itv2’s Love Island launched with 3.8million back in May.
Big Brother: Eye of the Storm proved a huge hit with viewers last night, with many of them praising Channel 5 for bringing back classic elements of the show, such as a closed-off staircase and housemates arriving by car. Even host Emma Willis commented on the nostalgic feel to the series, as she toured the house.
Cheers legend Kirstie Alley leads the names taking part this year, alongside Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas, TOWIE badboy Dan Osbourne and former rogue trader Nick Leeson.
The future of Celebrity Big Brother remains in doubt as Channel 5 boss Ben Frow continues to consider whether or not the reality show should stay or be axed.
