How do you get tickets for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016?
Tickets for BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2016 go on sale this Friday 7 October at 9am.
The star-studded event, celebrating the incredible sporting achievements of the past twelve months comes live from Birmingham’s Genting Arena on Sunday 18 December.
2016 has been an epic year for sport. From Leicester City’s fairy tale Premier League title success, to Wales’s run to the semis in Euro 2016, plus England’s Grand Slam in the Six Nations and Danny Willett’s Masters victory. Then there was Andy Murray’s Wimbledon title triumph and the huge success of Team GB in the Olympics and Paralympics. It all means this year’s awards should be the most hotly contested yet.
Gary Lineker, Clare Balding and Gabby Logan will once again host the show which will be broadcast live on BBC One and BBC One HD. With live entertainment and an arena full of past and present sporting stars, this promises to be a night to remember.
Presenter Gabby Logan says: “It’s always an honour to host these awards which give our sportsmen and women the recognition they deserve. This year has been truly outstanding which will make it harder than ever for the public to decide just who will go home with the coveted main trophy. I know that Gary, Clare and myself are all looking forward to coming to Birmingham for such a special night.”
Last year saw Davis Cup winner and current Wimbledon champion Andy Murray crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year, with rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield second and world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis-Hill third. This year’s winner will join Murray and some of the many sporting greats to claim the trophy before him such as Sir Bradley Wiggins, Lewis Hamilton, AP McCoy, Sir Chris Hoy, Paula Radcliffe and Dame Kelly Holmes.
