Presenting Thandie Newton’s Westworld Thannaissance!
As Westworld the box set returns to NOW TV (available now) we take a look at the renaissance of Westworld’s sassy brothel madam Thandie Newton (Maeve Millay), a Thannaissance if you will, to remember some of her best work over the years.
Below, we take a nostalgic look at the vast portfolio of one of our favourite award winning actresses.
Scarily, 20 years ago baby faced Thandie came on to our screens as band member Barbara ‘Cookie’ Cook in crime film Gridlock’d alongside Tim Roth and Tupac Shakur.
Mission: Impossible II (2000) ***
For iconic action film Mission: Impossible II, Thandie joined Tom Cruise as slinky thief Nyah Nordoff- Hall to take on uber-villain Dougray Scott in attaining deadly virus Chimera.

At 22 years old, Thandie was awarded best supporting actress for her role as Christine Thayer in American thriller Crash where LA citizens with vastly different lives are brought together through their experiences of race, loss and redemption.
The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) ***
In the early 1980s, struggling salesman Chris Gardner dedicated himself to winning a stockbroking internship... despite living on the streets and taking sole care of his young son. Wonderfully engaging performances from Will Smith and his real-life sprog Jaden. BAFTA-winning Londoner Thandie Newton co-stars as Gardner's remonstrative wife Linda.

In another multiple comic turn, Eddie Murphy stars as both hen-pecked dweeb Norbit and Rasputia, his 300lb monster of a wife. His marriage is a living hell, but things get really heavy for Norbit when his childhood sweetheart Kate (Thandie Newton) returns to town with her sneaky fiancée (Cuba Gooding Jr). With a third role as a politically incorrect Chinaman, Murphy has a whale of a time with this wobbly-bottomed wheeze. Roll over, Big Momma...

Run, Fatboy, Run (2007)
Five years earlier, nervous bridegroom Dennis (Simon Pegg) leaves his pregnant girlfriend, Libby (Thandie Newton), at the altar. Now he realizes he made a big mistake and wants to win her back. Unfortunately, Libby is involved with a handsome, attentive and fit financier (Hank Azaria), who plans to run in a charity marathon. Out-of-shape Dennis enters the race -- hoping to impress Libby -- even though he only has three weeks to prepare.
How To Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008)***
Finally, Thandie Newton briefly stars as herself in this hilarious rom com, co-starring with Simon Pegg once more. Peggplays Sidney Young, a cocksure London satirist who is inexplicably offered a job on New York's fashion-defining Sharps magazine. Determined to forge a glittering career on his own terms, he soon realises that integrity soon plays second fiddle to sycophancy in the vapid world of celebrity. Kirsten Dunst plays the colleague he eventually clicks with. Good-natured fun based on the real-life memoir of Brit-hack Toby Young.
