When does The Great British Bake Off start on Channel 4?

Channel 4 have confirmed the start date for the new series of The Great British Bake Off.

The baking competition will debut on the Channel at 8pm on Tuesday 29 August.  Each episode will run for 75 minutes, which is 15 minutes longer than when it was aired on the BBC to make up for the commercial breaks.

The scheduling means the new look Bake Off will go head to head with Holby City on BBC One and a Princess Diana documentary on itv.  Channel 4 are launching the new series of Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls immediately after the first episode.

BBC Two have moved its new cooking competition, The Big Family Cookery Showdown from Tuesdays to Thursdays to avoid a clash.

Paul Hollywood is the only face returning to the show, which will now be presented by Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding.
